This section looks at the many ways to raise funds which do not involve asking individuals for their personal support.
Many of these sources of funds are from statutory bodies or organisations which have been set up to give money away (e.g. Charitable Trusts, the National Lottery Boards). Obtaining funds from these sources is most successful if you can demonstrate that you meet the objectives set by the funding organisation.
Providing an opportunity or service (eg, an affinity credit card, promotional goods, weekly lottery, recycling etc) can also help to encourage people to support your work - even if it is in an indirect way.
There are also many organisations who might undertake fundraising on your behalf, or with your help. These include companies, schools, and different clubs.
Tip: Identifying and encouraging a 'champion' within the donating organisation helps to increase the funds raised for your cause. |
Trading, in the form of charity shops, catalogues, christmas cards etc. is a further source of income for many organisations. And increasingly, newer forms of raising funds are emerging (income generation schemes, social marketing etc).
